We Need to Pray for Our Nation!

“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge". Such a sobering thought from the prophet

Hosea, who proclaimed this stark warning to the priests of Israel some 750 years before the birth of

Jesus. It is especially sobering today as we see what is happening in our own nation.

The priests of Hosea’s day could easily be likened to our public education system which seems

intent on “dumbing down” the children under their tutelage. It can also be likened to too many of

today’s "liberal" church leaders who have chosen to edit out the “non inclusive” parts of the Bible in order for their flock to fit more comfortably into our current culture. These "shepherds" are completely ignoring the fact that those who are such influencers are striving to boost God completely out of national life.

It isn't only the educational system and the “liberal church” but also segments of

government that have chosen to disqualify the Judeo-Christian framework upon which our democratic

republic was founded. In this new (but ancient) ideology, there is no place for the Gospel of the Lord

Jesus Christ.

“Fitting in” and “going with the flow” is the focus in our culture today. Sadly, we

are rapidly becoming a culture that has not just turned its back of God but rather have become an active

enemy of God. How tragic! If I could paraphrase Proverbs 25:22, it would say “A righteous leader who

falters before the wicked is like a muddy spring or polluted well.” The “knowledge” that is so available,

proclaimed and touted as truth is really poison from a polluted well! It is Satan using what power he has left, the power to deceive. It is TRUTH, God's truth, that he is trying so hard to supplant. A famous quote from the philosopher Bertrand Russell hits the nail on the head, when he spoke about Fascism: "The next step is to fascinate fools and muzzle the intelligent..."

America has for many decades set the “standard” by promoting and protecting a free and

democratic citizenry. It now seems intent on “dumbing” us down. Isn’t this the same tactic used by the

godless Marxist “religion” to take control of a “dumbed down” citizenry? Another quote, by an unknown originator, that I read just recently: “Intelligent people are being silenced today so that stupid people won’t be offended.” How utterly and demoralizingly true! And it so clearly demonstrates that our nation is seriously divided – over politics, over religion and over cultural ideologies. We, who name the name of Jesus as Lord and Savior, are engaged (or should be!) in a battle against Satanic deception and darkness.

Those who are trying to steal our religious liberty, our freedom to express our faith and restrict – or even eliminate – our right to proclaim the Gospel, are claiming that even speaking Jesus’ words is now being defined as “hate speech”.

“Inclusion”, as being preached by the “woke” mob, is their “gospel”, and is showing up in even some

very old and long-established denominations. But the truth is that what they really mean by “inclusion”

is “we will include you so long as you don’t disagree with or try to contradict our doctrine. If you do, this

is simply evidence that you can be “cancelled” and dumped into the growing population of “haters”.

So what can we do? What should we do? We need to become fully alert and informed about what is

really happening. We need to acquire the knowledge that was lacking when Hosea so strongly warned

the shepherds and leaders on his day. And we pray!

So how can we pray? There are some powerful prayers that I have read and noted over the past

several years, and in my next post, I will, God willing, happily share a few of these. My hope is that they

will encourage you to pray, becoming a help to you as you pray. Stay tuned for Part 2.
