Hello

To start with, I’m 84, married to the same wonderful woman for 63 years, have two wonderful adult children, a daughter who lives near us and has been an integral part of our family business for nearly 30 years, and a  son who lives in Los Angeles and is a very successful attorney.

For the past 42 years, we have lived in a suburb of Seattle, in a home where we are blessed to be able to operate our family business.

In my “employment history”, I’m a graduate forester who worked several years for the U. S. Forest Serve in both Oregon and Washington.  This employment opened a door  get involved in the ski industry where I served several years as General Manager for a popular ski area less than 2 hours from Seattle.  This employment opened yet another the door through which my wife and I, with God’s most generous provision, established our own business. (Actually, God is truly the “opener of doors”!)

But more importantly, I’m a determined follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ.  And recently (within the past several months), I have been impressed with the idea that my current “mission” is to share my faith, along with my Christ-centered, Bible-based world view. Starting first within our own “circle of family”, I enlisted the help of a two very dear and talented family members to help me set up this blogger’s web page. “Blogger”, an interesting and descriptive word that didn’t even exist until a few short years ago.

My Story

For the past several years, as I have been reading various translations of the Bible, along with books and other devotional writings offered by others*, I have “journaled” some of insights, ideas, impressions and thoughts.  If it struck a chord, I wrote it down.  It might be a portion of scripture, a prayer, a paragraph or part of someone’s writing that I wanted to remember. Not only did I copy it but also, as I may have been inspired, made this prayer or piece becomes the “bones” upon which I added some “flesh” that reflects my own longing.  In each case, I try to identify and give credit to the source of whatever I copied.  That’s why you may see various names of the individual who composed these “whatevers” originally, along with the dates when I may have read these “bones”.  (In reality, all credit is due to the Holy Spirit who inspires and helps us all in our attempt to acquire the “mind of Christ”.)

And because I am greatly blessed by this collection of prayers, thoughts, petitions, longings, helpful to my own relationship with our Lord and Savior, I am hopeful that these will be a blessing and a help to any who may read these.

*These “others” that I read or listen to, among others, include Joseph Prince, Allen Jackson, Bishop Robert Barron, Eric Metaxas, Jonathon Cahn, C. S. Lewis, Dr. Brant Pitre, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Fr. Cedric, The Word Among Us, CBN and CBN Israel to name a few

My prayer is that these words, scriptures, thoughts that follow will be a blessing and a help to you in the same way that they have blessed me, and continue to bless me
