James 1:5 declares “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
“Wisdom is God Himself dwelling in us through the Holy Spirit.” (The Word Among Us)
Lord, I ask for Wisdom and understanding and the revelation knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. I ask for wisdom to put You first in my life. May I wake up every morning and go to sleep every night with Your praise on my lips and in my heart.
Lord, I look to You to guide me and, with Your help, to follow You wherever You are guiding me, even if it’s on a road or to a place I’d rather not go. And Lord, help me to thank You for this journey while I am on this journey.
Lord, grant me a heart of wisdom so that l may understand the hearts of my loved ones. Teach me so that I can offer self-giving love and humble service. Help me to always produce the Fruit of the Spirit in my life – “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Gal. 5:22,23)
May my life be increasingly defined by the fruit of Your Spirit so that I may honor Jesus. And may I be able to truly rest in You, giving You all my anxiety, fear, doubt and unbelief, trusting in Your faithfulness, believing in Your Word and obeying Your commandments.
Lord, give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay silent. And when I do speak or write, let my words be Your words and let them be a blessing and help to those who hear them or read them. Let my words serve to accomplish Your will. Help me to put away self- pride, allowing it to be neither my motivation nor my reward.
Lord, give me a hearing ear and a seeing eye and the wisdom to know Your will and to obey Your commandments. Help me to hear Your still, small voice, Your silent voice, even as You hear my silent voice. And when I struggle with obeying Your commandments help me to see how they are always for my very best. And when I fail, give me the wisdom and the will to repent, knowing that You are always ready and willing, waiting and wanting to forgive me and welcome me back into that loving relationship with You. May I know that You will never leave me nor forsake me.
Lord, help me to understand that life is short, and that this world is passing away. May I value the things of heaven more than I value the things of this world. May I live with my death always in view so that I will have no regrets when You call me to Yourself. May I live without any fear of death, but with the understanding that my death is simply the passing through the portal that brings me into the reality of Your promise of new and everlasting life in Your presence.
Lord, You are truly the source of all wisdom. Make me wise so that I may glorify You.
In Jesus name. (Adapted and personalized from The Word Among Us.)
